Organic farming, low yields, and meticulous hand selection ensure that only healthy, intact fruit reaches the cellar at the peak of its natural vibrancy. The approach is traditional: fermentation and ageing take place in cement vats and large oak casks, with extended maceration to allow the wine to develop depth and identity. Every intervention is kept to a minimum – letting the wine speak, unfiltered, in the many shades of its origin.
The Wines of the Pontifical Guard
The relationship between Tenuta San Giorgio and the Pontifical Swiss Guard began in 2010, with the release of the 2005 vintage of Ugolforte. A shared set of values – along with the symbolism of Saint George himself, a figure of virtue and courage, of good triumphing over evil – led to San Giorgio being chosen as an official supplier to the Pontifical Swiss Guard.
